The majority of our executive directors have worked together since 1993. Four of these lead underwriting businesses. This ensures a strong direct link between the business and the Board. The non-executive directors each bring specific, in-depth areas of expertise to the Board.



Executive Directors



Picture of Adrian Cox, Head of Specialty Lines Prior to joining Beazley in June 2001, Adrian was at General Cologne Re for 8 years. He began his career writing short tail facultative reinsurance before moving to the Treaty Department in 1997, where he wrote both short and long tail business, specialising in Financial Lines.


Picture of Andrew Beazley, Deputy Chairman Andrew Beazley is the Deputy Chairman of the Beazley Group. He has over 30 years of Insurance experience as a broker and an underwriter. Andrew's past at Lloyd's has included serving as a member of the Lloyd's Market Board from 1994-1997. He was also a member of the Chairman's Strategy Group which set down the blueprint for reforms including the creation of the Franchise Board.


Picture of Andrew Horton, Chief Executive Officer Andrew was appointed CEO of Beazley Group plc and President of Beazley Insurance Company Inc in September 2008. Based in London and previously the Group's finance director, Andrew joined Beazley in June 2003 having spent the previous 15 years in the banking industry.


Picture of Jonathan Gray , Head of Property Group Jonathan is a Director at Beazley, having joined the company in 1992. Jonathan sits on Beazley's Executive and PLC boards and leads the Property group today based in the UK, US and Asia. Jonathan entered Lloyd's in 1973 when he began his career as an Underwriting Assistant. His focus was on North American property and Jonathan became Deputy Underwriter for the Cuthbert Heath syndicate in 1988.


Picture of Neil Maidment, Director of Reinsurance Neil is the Reinsurance team leader for Syndicate 623/2623 and a Director of Beazley Group plc. After graduating from St Edmund Hall, Oxford, he began his career at Lloyd's in 1984, writing the Non-Marine Treaty account. He joined Beazley in 1990 and was appointed to the Board in 1993. Neil is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute.


Picture of Nicholas Furlonge, Director of Risk Management Nicholas started his Lloyd's career in 1971. He founded Beazley Furlonge Ltd with Andrew Beazley in 1985 and is Director of Risk Management. He is also responsible for the Agency's Marketing and Purchasing of the Syndicate's Reinsurances.


Picture of Clive Washbourn, Director of Marine Clive joined Beazley in 1998 as Head of Marine for Syndicate 2623/623 and is a member of both the Beazley Group Limited and Beazley Furlonge Limited Boards. Clive has twenty five years experience in the marine insurance industry and is a member of the LMA Marine Committee and Chairman of the Joint War Committee.

Picture of Jonathan Agnew, Chairman Jonathan Agnew is the Chairman of the company. He is also Chairman of LMS Capital plc, Ashmore Global Opportunities Limited and The Cayenne Trust plc and Senior Independent Director of Rightmove plc. Jonathan was formerly a Managing Director of Morgan Stanley and subsequently Chief Executive of Kleinwort Benson Group. He has been chairman of Limit plc, Gerrard Group plc and Nationwide Building Society.


Picture of Andy Pomfret, Non-Executive Director Andy Pomfret is Chief Executive Officer of Rathbone Brothers Plc, having joined in 1999 as Finance Director and, prior to that, held positions at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co (now KPMG) and Kleinwort Benson (now Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein).


Picture of Dudley Fishburn, Non-Executive Director Dudley Fishburn is Chairman of HFC Bank Limited and a Director of HSBC Bank plc. He is a Non-Executive Director of Household International Inc. and Altria Inc. in the USA.


Picture of Dan Jones, Non-Executive Director Daniel L. Jones retired in 2003 as Vice-Chairman for Marsh, Inc., responsible for non-North American operations, strategic planning, and mergers/acquisitions, officed out of London. In 2006 he re-entered the broking business as chief executive for the broking operations of Fred A. Moreton & Co., a Salt Lake City-based regional financial services concern focusing on the western United States.


Picture of Gordon Hamilton, Non-Executive Director Gordon Hamilton recently retired as a Senior Audit Partner in Deloitte & Touche LLP after more than 30 years, principally involved with listed multi-national company audits and major forensic assignments.
